Highway Hiatus

Living in a rapidly growing, large city like Dallas, it is easy to sometimes feel overwhelmed by the never-ending flow of people going about their daily lives. This feeling strikes most commonly for me on my daily commute when I have to battle the thousands of drivers all crammed into the tightly packed veins of the city. Because of the accelerated growth of cities like Frisco and McKinney, two of the fastest growing cities in the nation, it has started to seem like there is never a lull in the traffic, just a constant rush hour. With the photos in this series, I have attempted to show the highways around town in a state which is hardly ever witnessed during daylight hours. These images show what it would be like if the crowded highways and toll roads of Dallas were as peaceful as a quiet landscape outside of the city limits. By removing the vehicles, these spaces are transformed into calm, lifeless rivers of asphalt and concrete with no one in sight, a commuter’s paradise.
